Review

Mario& Luigi: Paper Jam is one of the video games that was published by Nintendo quite a few years back. And the game is not often commonly rated greatly like the rest of the Mario Series.

The game is considered a Paper Mario game. The game is still decent but there are several flaws that I think you should know about this game. The overall gameplay experience the game offered me doesn’t make me feel like I’m playing the game because the reason is that this series can be made greater than it’s right now. There are so many things that Nintendo could have done right to make this an all-time favorite video game ever but somehow this is just a-okay version. It’s frustrating and disappointing for the Mario fans or the Nintendo fans to have such high hope for the game while getting let down by the game developers.

The storyline of the game is sort of similar to the Super Mario Bros series where it’s still all about saving someone from something. I feel like Nintendo could have done a lot more to create a great storyline for players to enjoy but yet still the same overall plot which makes me feel like Nintendo is done with a new ideology and all the great stories they could be telling us instead of the older plotted storylines and everything like that. The other thing about this series that can certainly be improved is the characters inside of the game. I feel like Nintendo could be using the same character over and over from generation and generation in different types of games, but that’s not something the players want to see in their games. People have a higher tendency for new things that sparkles them and make them feel like the new ideas could make them feel something refreshing and interesting. For a great example from the film industry, Marvel has been keeping releasing new characters with different backgrounds and social statuses to embrace more audiences and capture viewers’ attention which is the exact thing I think Nintendo should be doing at the beginning. It’s more than the variety of the game, but it’s also more about the characters they could be bringing back to this version of the game where they chose not to. It’s sad to see that they only chose certain characters to be represented in this game. The freedom of selecting the character that you want to play with is forbidden in this game, so if you want to try out Luigi as your character. It would be hard for you to do that in this generation.

Also, I feel like this game is not supposed to be just designed for kids. The thing with it is that the developers chose to make the game too easy which makes there is legit nothing to be challenged by while playing the game. You probably won’t even die a couple of times while still finishing up the whole game. The feelings and emotions of thrill and fulfillment got taken away from the players with all the challenges and the excitement of trying. The battles in this game are quite easy to win as well in this game which makes you feel like the developers are checking you out and thinking you are weak to set up everything as easy as it is right now.

Overall, it’s still a decent game and I wouldn’t necessarily hold you back from trying it but I would recommend players who haven’t tried the Mario Series to try some other generation before getting into this one.
